Warrior Nation Blogs Warrior Nation Experience It!

[B][I][FONT="Trebuchet MS"]Hey everyone. I'm Horizon, Hori, or just David and I've been a WN member for over 5 years now and I've seen a lot of changes, throughout a variety of positions, ranks and structures and have made a good deal of friends. I'd like to say I've got the experience to talk on topics with some authority.

I bring you this blog to talk about unique things, new ideas and maybe bring highlight to things you might not have thought about before.

So yes, I hope you find this interesting. Other than that, keep gaming / trolling / lurking / working.

So after I learnt the outcome of my appeal, I looked for new areas to get involved with. I saw an opening for NG MD and considering that was one of the few MD positions that for me seemed interesting and engaging, I applied. I enjoyed acting as something of an information desk for newcomers and old members alike. Here I stayed until an FPS Marshal position was announced.

At around the same time I was offered to return to the Creative Works, this time as an Editor. I wanted to get back involved as soon as I could, and started doing reports. However, I also had a passion for interviews, and decided to push to restart the department. After a few weeks and a trial, Interviews returned to WN and I became the editor for that. I had a really fun time doing something I enjoy, as well as being quite satisfied building something from the ground up once again, which reminded me of Dev. I hope I helped to shape a committed team with some strong ideals, which lasted for some time.

Marshal gave me the opportunity to return to supporting sections, which was something I always liked. As it was more a forum related job, I found this fitted in well with my restricted ability to game while at university. It was nice working with Dobby and the JAs, and I started to feel like a more experienced member of the clan. However, I eventually resigned as I was starting to find problems with the clan and needed some time out to relax, refocus and get back to enjoying my time in the clan.

So I returned to WN after some time out, doing various things, and thinking about where I wanted to spend my time while online. After a few days I felt I wanted to go back to where I've considered my home in WN, the Creative Works. Going back to interviews was enjoyable and I managed to do quite a few in the month of May and got the Interview Of The Month for it as well. After my promotion to Radio Head and Recon, I slowed down on doing so many but still like to get the chance to talk to someone new and ask them some intriguing questions :)

So as I was about to come back from university in the summer, and I'd have a little more time I wondered whether to expand into other areas/ One place that stuck out was Recon. I'd never seen myself as much of a recruiter, but I could sure help out and support and they were in dire need of people, so I sent in an app, and that's where I ended up. I'd like to say I helped save UO from dying for about another year. It was tough and sometimes depressing but when you succeed, its a very rewarding feeling. I then made the jump over to BG. I'm glad to see the role now merged with Commissioner.

Again Radio looked in a dire condition. I thought that with some experience before within Radio and the Creative Works as a whole, I could offer something, especially as nobody had yet stepped up. With the forum changes, its made it harder to broadcast and after 3 months however, I started to lose my passion for leading the department. I still had a desire to be in the Creative Works, so moved over to become historian over the Global Histories.

So yes I finally made it to the Brig General spot. I looked over the All Out War challenge (well towards the end of it anyway) and got involved in quite a few discussions about the FPS genre more generally. But I was already rather despondent by this stage and after a rather fierce discussion, I essentially resigned from the role. I regret what happened, but its done now. I then left on an HD and got a DD for joining an enemy clan. And that's where I stayed for approximately 10 months.

After returning in September, I was quite busy but eventually wanted to get involved in some way. I joined the FPS Communications team to become a Historian for about the 5th time. PPK then stepped down rather suddenly (as did most of the Comms team at this time) and I was asked to be Scholar.
