Helpingtons!
Posted by:WNxHelios

My laptop has all of a sudden started making a screeching sound from the speaks.

The sound becomes worse when I turn the volume to 100 or if I bring the laptop screen down towards the keyboard, as if it's echoing.

If I have the volume below 50, I hear no screeching.

What the hell is happening?

Has my secondary HDD failed.
Posted by:WNxAsch

Ok so the other day I had some trouble booting my PC it was hanging on the 'Starting Windows Screen' this in on Windows 7 Pro 64bit

Now I had no idea what was happening it sounded like it was trying to read the drives but nothing was happening. I left it for a good 30 mins.

Then I opened the beast up and swapped the SATA cables for my 2 hard drives thinking maybe one of the cables had died... same thing.

Next I tried booting with the 2nd HDD unplugged and it worked like a charm. Is this an indication that the 2nd drive is failing or is something else the issue here.

Can someone take a look at this hardware? <3

Buying a new computer, custom built. I did have a very good set up but I found out it got a bit pricy in the end so I ended up with this:

CASE:

Cooler Master Elite 430 Midi Tower Black Vifte: 1x 120mm Front, Blue LEDs, mATX, ATX, 2x USB, 1x Audio

PSU:

Silver Power SP-SS500 500W PSU ATX 12V V2.2, 80 Plus, Standard, 1x 6pin+1x 6+2pin PCIe, 6× SATA, 120mm Vifte

CPU:

Intel® Core i5-2310 Processor Socket-LGA1155, Quad Core, 2.9Ghz, 6MB, 95W, Boxed w/fan

MOTHERBOARD:

Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3, Socket-1155 ATX, Z68, DDR3, 2xPCIe(2.0)x16, CFX&SLI, SATA 6Gb/s,FW,USB 3.0,Dolby,HDMI, mSATA

RAM:

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 8GB CL9 Kit w/2x 4GB XMS3 modules, CL9-9-9-24, 1.5V, Vengeance Heatspreader, 240

GRAPHICS CARD:

Gainward GeForce GTX 560 1GB PhysX PCI-Express 2.0, GDDR5, DVI, native-HDMI, VGA

I also got an SSD at 60gb and a HDD with 500GB but I don't really need to evaluate those.

before this I had the i5 2500 3.3GHz and the GTX 560 Ti. But I read around and found out it didn't do much of a difference, so I'd rather save 150 Euros on reducing it to what I have here.

I also took a much more expensive mobo then the one I originally started with which was the: MSI H61MU-E35 B3, Socket-1155 m-ATX, H61, DDR3, 1xPCIe(2.0)x16, GbLAN, VGA, DVI, HDMI, USB 3.0, EFI

Is it really worth 100$ to go up to the motherboard that I have selected at the moment?

Please give me your thoughts, and also please tell me what this computer will be good for! +rep for every answer

Games Freezing on New Gaming Desktop (Need Help!)
Posted by:WNxTyr4el

So I got this awesome gaming computer form Cyber Power PC for Christmas. I'll list the specs and go on to detail my story and question:

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 6 Core 2.8 GHz
1 TB SATA III 7200 RPM HDD
Kingston Hyper-X 4 GB RAM (x2) = 8 GB Total
AMD Radeon HD 6670 1 GB DDR3 PCIE
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 AM3+ Crossfire USB3.0 SATA 3 Motherboard

Now the story part:

We got the desktop and it was running fine. Blue screened on the first boot up but ran seemingly fine afterwards. I go off to work and ask my dad how it's doing. He says that it blue screens on start up and that it's the graphics card that failed. Turns out it's a common problem. NBD, new card, same card - shipped out few days later. Get the new card a week or so later, install it no problem and boots up fine. Now herein lies the dilemma. MOST of the games that I have installed (that require higher end PCs) will freeze on either start up, or sometimes mid game and will cause no error code. The display (46" Samsung Flat Screen) will flash sometimes and the game will minimize and no more can be done but Ctrl+Alt+Del. Sometimes it just freezes and the monitor doesn't flash and minimize and it's just frozen in place and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del anyway. My question is...why the hell is this happening? Is there a setting on the card that I need to change, or maybe in-game? I'm not sure so that's why I'm here, lol.

If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. My dad installed the latest drivers on the old card before it blew out but I hadn't reinstalled them on this new card that shipped out later. I'll try doing that but Idk how that will help. If anyone has anything that it could be, please post!
