Promotional Interview - WNxSwitchBlade by WNxHorizon
#3 - The Winter Files
WNxSwitchBlade

Name: Ricky
Age: 25
Location: Michigan, USA
Primary Section: Counter Strike: Source
WNxHorizon: Today I'm with SwitchBlade, recently promoted to BG of Battle Ops for FPS. How are you today Switch?
WNxSwitchBlade: I'm doing pretty good. No work today, so it makes the day even better.
WNxHorizon: Ah a day off nice. When you are actually working, what do you do?
WNxSwitchBlade: Well, I'll be going back on Monday. But I work for my Dad's investment firm. We deal with private investments and financial markets.
WNxHorizon: Oh I see, financial stuff. Anyway, how about you tell everyone in WN a little about yourself?
WNxSwitchBlade: My name is Ricky, and I'm 25. I live in Michigan. I'm a huge hockey fan(GO RED WINGS! ). Besides that, I enjoy gaming, music and going out with friends.
WNxHorizon: What sorts of music are you into?
WNxSwitchBlade: Rock, metal and post-hardcore. I've been listening to a lot of Avenged Sevenfold lately. Their new album is amazing.
WNxHorizon: Yeah I've noticed a lot of people enjoy them in WN.
WNxSwitchBlade: They are an awesome band.
WNxHorizon: Very true. So back to gaming, when did you first become involved in that as a hobby?
WNxSwitchBlade: It was probably when I was like 3 or 4 years old. My Dad had these games on floppy disks. Yes, believe it or not... they had games on floppy disks. I believe the game was called Rooms of Doom, and we used to play it all the time. We never beat the game though, and even today I have a hard time beating it.
WNxHorizon: Hehe. I remember the first games I played on the PC, and on the early consoles. Its strange how you end up missing some of those early games lol
WNxSwitchBlade: Yeah, the game play seemed much harder back then too. All the games now are too easy.
WNxHorizon: Yeh I get that feeling sometimes. So what game drew you into WN?
WNxSwitchBlade: Halo PC, back in like the summer of 2005. I used to play on the WN server all the time, and later that fall I ended up joining WN.
WNxHorizon: That's interesting, I know of a few who have entered WN through Halo over the years.
WNxSwitchBlade: Yeah, we still have some members still around from those days. A lot of them are in the console sections now.
WNxHorizon: I see. What sections have you been in over the years since then? Which one was the most enjoyable?
WNxSwitchBlade: Oh god, I've been in a crap load of sections, but only a select few as primary. I've been in Halo PC, FEAR Combat, CoD4, CSS and Modern Warfare 2. Out of those, I would say FEAR Combat was my favorite one.
WNxHorizon: What made it so good?
WNxSwitchBlade: Well, it also happened to be the section where I held my first leadership rank, which was GC. But all of the friendships I made there. Some of my great friends aren't around much anymore, but WNxJihad, WNxScorpion and a few others are still around. We had some of the greatest times in that section. It really helped me grow into WN and made me the leader I am today.
WNxHorizon: Friendships always tend to make the best sections. Over the years you've served in a number of positions also. I remember I was your AS for MW2 for a brief while What did you feel was the best one?
WNxSwitchBlade: I really enjoyed being Major. It is the rank that really holds WN together. I've done it 3 times now, and I have enjoyed it every single time. It is by far the greatest rank in WN.
WNxHorizon: Everyone does love Major, and I agree certainly the best rank. Now you're involved in Battle Ops, how is that running for you so far?
WNxSwitchBlade: I'm loving it. Battle Ops. is really what I feel I am all about. Running events, competition and tournaments. Plus, we have an awesome team up there. And when working with Sco, how can one go wrong? Haha.
WNxHorizon: Oh I don't know, working with Sco can go badly wrong.
WNxSwitchBlade: I'll try to test his patience more often then.
WNxHorizon: Hehe. So what are you involved in doing currently?
WNxSwitchBlade: Well with this structure change, we are still looking to fill the open spots. I need 2 more Commissioners in FPS, then we can really get the ball rolling. But I don't want to give too much away... but we are planning a huge global tournament currently. It will involve the entire clan in just 1 game.
WNxHorizon: Sounds ambitious, I look forward to it I noticed that while you're not in WN working, you're a self proclaimed huge hockey fan. Do you ever get the time to go and see matches?
WNxSwitchBlade: I've had season tickets for 16 seasons now, well they were my Dad's when I was younger, and he's passed them onto me now. So I go to almost every home game with my friends And honestly, I have not missed a Red Wings game in almost 10 years.
WNxHorizon: That's cool. Do you currently play or have played the game at all?
WNxSwitchBlade: I used to play on a team, but I quit a few years ago due to the increased work load at work. But I still from time to time head out to the rink and have a pick up game with friends.
WNxHorizon: Always good when people play the game they love. So we're coming to the end now, but there are still a few things to ask. I've noticed that you tend to ask people what superpower they'd like in an interview. So I'm flipping this back on you hehe. What superpower would you choose if you had the chance?
WNxSwitchBlade: Haha well, I would love to shoot webs like Spider Man. One of my favorite abilities. Either that or read minds.
WNxHorizon: That's certainly different hehe. What would you do with that power, fight crime lol?
WNxSwitchBlade: Not sure, but I certainly wouldn't have to wait in traffic jams.
WNxHorizon: Haha, that's a major bonus. Finally, do you have any shout-outs to give?
WNxSwitchBlade: I do. I have to give a shout out to the Battle Ops. Department. SCO YOU'RE A NOOB. And to my noobs over in Recon, <3 you all. Also to the MW2 PC section, CSS and the interview crew.
WNxHorizon: A nice list there. Well thanks for the Interview Switch, congrats in your new role and we'll speak later.
WNxSwitchBlade: For sure, thanks again for doing this. It was fun!
