I feel like I should put this out there. I tried to upgrade my laptop first in case anything went wrong, and boy did something go wrong. After the first step of the installation it initiated the restart in order to finish. When the computer started back up, I got BCD errors. Using a Windows 7 recovery disk, I tried to recreate it, but it wouldn't let me. Running the startup recovery tool, I was told that Windows can't repair the errors. And when I tried to restore to a recovery point, I was told that I had to pick from a list of OSes to recover (from a list that was empty).

So yeah, definitely not a clean installation process yet.

Edit: Turns out it borked my hard drive real good. I can't even re-install the Windows 7 that was on there previously.

Ouch! I'm glad I wasn't that unlucky. I just had some activation issues that later solved themselves...

I too had to download Windows 10 manually. The automatic update was having issues. No issues yet with the OS and I really like the look and feel of it so far.

To be fair, if you are running Norton, Windows 10 isn't your problem.

I'm still not selected for the download... I'm lagging behind on technology! Damn you Windows!

Also, happy birthday Helios!

That's been about my consensus. So far, I'm a (cautiously optimistic) fan of this release.

So far the OS is working ok. I used the web site downloader just to be safe. Only downside is that you have to go download the new video drivers. It does not apply it to Window 10 graphic.

Sources says that Windows 10 is gathering data on all your activities and it is being sent to Microsoft. Microsoft confirms that this is the case. They are doing it to improve and optimize your computing experience. However, I know a lot of you will think this is bs and thinks they are selling the data. Now, just turning off all the options in Privacy Settings will not help much. There is more steps to minimize the data gathering even further. Here is the guide to do that.

I know that this is a few weeks ago. But thread isn't closed

I jumped online at 9pm PST 12midnightEST and it took me about 10mins to find this link. I got my upgrade within a half hour. took about 2 hours to upgrade and install but well worth it all when it was said and done. And i loved the fact i was able to line cut. Cause i didn't get my email until the 31st in the afternoon.
