Zerg Tips!
If you have any tips please add them. These are a couple of things I have picked up from various places.

1) Most Economical Opening.
You have a couple of options on when to get your overlord. On teamliquid some guy actually went through the various options. To extract the maximum minerals you should get your overlord on 9 supply instead of ten and avoid the extractor trick.

Its about the hatchery producing lave. If you make an overlord on 10 supply, you get 3 lave so the hatchery stops producing more for a while. It is this delay in additional lave which makes getting overlord on 9 supply more worthwhile.

Doing the extractor trick to free up supply to get the extra drone was the second most economical.

Muta vs Muta > Get Carapace Upgrade + Use zerglings

This is for ZvZ match ups where you both go Muta.

Mutas are great for their mobility but also the bouncing glaive. Getting +1 carapace on your mutas cancels out almost all of the glaive damage. This means +1 carapace mutas own the crap out of +1 attack mutas. If you both have fairly even numbers its usually GG... or they are forced into a tech switch.

What also helps in these fights is zerglings. This is again about the glaives. If you park your zerglings underneath the battle a fair % of the bouncing glaives will hit zerglings instead of your mutas. This can give you the edge in the battle.

Feign Macro builds. Just attack

Zerg is apparently all about Macro. Everyone knows it. If the Zerg goes quick 2 or even 3 base they just want to get up to 60 / 70 drones as quickly as possible. Zerg won't make offensive units unless they have to... A lot of T/P players just go into Macro mode themselves to counter it.

With this meta game thinking a lot of players aren't prepared for some strong aggression. This isn't about all in's. Get your second base, get a few drones to get some saturation going then get off drones and pump 12 roaches or a bunch of lings / banelings. Its about denying their natural and killing a bunch of drones.

I have been having a lot of success with it against Protoss. Similarly in IGN's Tournament of Champions ZenexLife has been really messing up Terrans with surprise early pressure.

Vs Protoss -> Watch your natural expansion (Same with T and Bunkers)

Most Protoss forge fast expand. This makes it very tempting for the toss player to put a cannon or two at your natural. If you don't see it your natural can die.

You remove this threat by parking an overlord over the top of it. If a pylon / cannon comes just remember it takes 4 probes to kill a cannon which is constructing. So you want to pull maybe 6 drones. 2 to chase the probe and 4 to kill the pylon / cannon.

A similar thing to note. On Talderin Alter. There is a small choke point between main and natural. If the protoss scouts you early be prepared for 3 pylons to wall that off with a cannon or two behind. Easiest way to protect your self is to set a drone to patrol that choke till your spawning pool comes up.

Aight' broski, I'll tell you it straight...

As a silver league player, there is so much about the game that you don't know yet, and thinking about two base play as a silver leaguer is much like attempting to run before you can walk! Your post inspired me to create a Zerg help video, which I think should put you on your feet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9rYm-rDKY8

For everyone is not high Grand-Master, SC2 is a game about making the least amount of mistakes. Strategy doesn't win you the game, neither does micro-management. Your ability to not miss injects, to not get supply blocked, to know all the common timings are what win you games in SC2. I'n bronze/silver/gold league, the game is mostly about who doesn't get supply blocked the most, and who makes the most stuff effectively.

When you're playing this game, whatever build you're doing, I want you to focus on not getting supply blocked. The build in the video is good for two reasons, you have a decent economy from the get go, so you only have to focus on making roaches, and not getting supply blocked. Once you have mastered this one build, then you should move on to the more advanced stuff!

Good luck, Bigz

tom webb (Webby): if you think more about yourself and not concentrate on how OP
(supposedly) the race is then you should have more success
