That's right folks! The Frontline is back! It certainly has been a while since we've seen the Frontline show its face, but with Battle Operations becoming its own department, you can expect a newsletter from us every month. This is not your ordinary "here is what happened in our department this month" newsletter. We will be covering exciting news from throughout the department, including but not limited to department news, latest promotions/awards, Genre events, clan-wide/section wide events, and Sco's fail of the month! So keep your eyes peeled every month for the Frontline!

January has been our first full month as a department and boy has it been a busy one. The early part of the month was spent mainly in re-organizing our staff and trying to get the right people in the right places. We've also been planning our huge Counter-Strike: Source tournament, you'll read more about that soon.
Our RTS staff has been busy planning the first Global RTS Event of the year. I don't want to spoil it, but expect something amazing coming to you RTS sections!

But most importantly, we put in a lot of time and effort in planning out the return of the Frontline. The entire staff has put in countless hours in discussing, debating, arguing and crying over how we want to format our newsletter. Here is a picture to help show you how much thought we put into the Frontline:

Yes that picture is a little exaggerated, Sco only had 5 beers not 6.

Want to know some of our staff a little better? Thanks to the Interview Team, WNxFataalFrietje and WNxSwitchBlade have been interviewed. You can read about them here:

Global CSS Tournament - WNxSwitchBlade

This month, the Battle Operations department has chosen the Global CSS Tournament to be the Event of the Month. The Tournament was announced just over two weeks ago and Round 1 is now underway. Teams are beginning to challenge other teams. The concept of this tournament is to bring all of the WN CSS players together into one massive 3v3 tournament, all competing for one grand prize at the end. You can read more about it here:

You can also follow all of the action live on the CSS forums! Good luck to all of the participants, it should be an awesome showdown!

This member has shown a lot of dedication to this department with showing his dedication to his section, Call of Duty 2. He is always looking on the internet to find some new stuff about leagues to get WN higher up. With his events everyone will gets more in touch with eachother and thats also why he receives the medal of communication some months ago. I hope that we can work a long time together and I hope he will stay for a long long time in this department. If we had more of these members you would never stop with gaming because he gives you the best in game experience you ever had. Keep it up Krakzor and congrats with your award!

Sadly we have seen no awards for the Medal of Competitive Edge during December/January as we have been wanting to settle everyone into their new roles following the structure change. However now that everything has settled down we may see a new shiny medal apprearing anytime soon!

Call of Duty: United Offensive

This game has been around for a hell of a long time now, and with CoD games coming out with the regularity of a good dump, CoD:Uo is having a tough time finding members and keeping members. With such a tough challenge, a fantastic leadership has stepped up and with events coming more regularly than news of another CoD game and activity rising, we can applaud the Captains (Evoke - BO Captain) for creating a fantastic event atmosphere for our members.

Call of Duty 4 (PC)

This section manages to focus on both recreational gaming and competitive gaming at the same time, with aplomb. Some great clanbase results (a report) have come over recent weeks with fun events and interclans providing a welcome relieve from the pressures of constant scrimming. Notably, a new server sponsored by ionic, makes all this possible!

Call of Duty: Black Ops

Having just been released from Development (Gratz), Black Ops is stabilising itself under the steam of Unseen (Major). With events and gamenights already providing entertainment for the members, it is sure to be a good run for Black Ops (PC) in WN.

Day of Defeat: Source

A few months ago, Halliday won the BOoM due to his tireless effort and fantastic ideas in reviving his section. I am happy to report that this has only got stronger and with regular events, DoDs is sure to be on the rise again as people realise how great WN is and what great nights the leadership can provide!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2(PC)

This section has just released out of probation and Recon but maybe the section had some hard times, they were active enough to keep the game back on track.

Call of Duty 2

This section is one of the creativest ones I have ever seen, they are all preparing for some winter cups in february and some other members are standing up by themselve to organize some great events like some normal one nigth stances as SD events and some Hide and Seek events. Thats says enough to show why their great BO Krakie has been rewarded with the BOOM award.

Big changes bring exciting times! With the release of Call of Duty Black Ops we have waved goodbye to some great sections. On top of this it has been hard to host events for sections on both Xbox and PS3 due to some lacking activity in older games like MW2 and MAG. But good things are happening now that we have the new NA and EU Black Ops sections out of Development, they have played an inter-sectional match against each other already with a victory for the EU section. To add to this, the success of the competitive gaming within Console is rising yet again. Both of the Black Ops sections are taking full advantage of having split regions for the same game on the same platform by arranging an EU & NA Doubles League, if your not aware of it and have an Xbox with Black Ops, GET SIGNED UP! Not only this but with the high activity in gamenights we are bringing in a hell of a lot of new members.

On another note of competitive gaming, Battle Ops Console are working hard on getting all sections active with a Gamebattles team so that they can really get the Warrior Nation name out there in the world of competitive gaming!

Stats for Console over the past month:

Gamenights - 49

Intersectional matches - 1
Smack matches - 0

As you can see from the figures Console is doing work, and with so many new members and sections getting stronger I am sure we will see a lot more in the future. A new contest will be available for all Warrior Nation members with an Xbox and this will be announced in the first week of February, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Special Mentions

Smack the Major.
With his Egotistical thread and offer of Rep to anyone who can beat him. We love it.

WNxDreadBot, WNxThinbot007 & WNxCallum
EU vs. NA Doubles Tourny.
Brilliant idea to take advantage of the region split. This is that we like to see!

Atlantica Online
Atlantica Online is holding strong since its release. They currently do not have a BO captain for their section however the officers are making sure that events are rolling out on a regular basis and they constently assemble training events and game nights to keep their members motivated and their ingame skills improving constantly. This is something that is crucial to any section and Atalantica Online has made great strides to accomplish this.

Diablo 2
As you all know, D2 has been going through some major changes this month. With the recent promotion of yours truly (WNxWagit) to BO commissioner it has left the section without a proper BO captain to take the reigns. This, however, doesnt mean that D2 has gone without constant BO attention. I have held game nights every week and do my best to run events on a regular basis as well. Additionally, the section was once again hit with the prospect of new leadership. This process is taking some time and we hope to have it resolved as quickly as possible. It speaks to this sections character though that they are able to hold together during these stressful times and make their section one of the greatest in WN. I am proud to call D2 my home.

Dungeons & Dragons
Dungeons & Dragons Online has seen a huge wave of popularity since its introduction to WN. So it's no surprise that they have come this far. With the recent promotion of their new BO captain, WNxCletis. The section has seen an instant spike in events and Mr Cletis has done a great job of setting up events and game nights important to character development and member report within the section. I can't emphisize enough the importance of in game activity and communication and Cletis has defiently accomplished this in his short time as BO captain. I'm sure we'll be seeing many great things for this section in the future.

EVE Online
With the installment of EVE's most recent expansion, Incursion on its main server, Tranquility, game activity is on the rise. Unfortunately the game doesnt lend itself to many opportunities for events, however our EVE communitiy is always in game together doing something. Wether it be leveling skills, mining, manufacturing, trading, pvp, and the list goes on, they are dedicated to making WN a name that is well known in the EVE Online Universe.

The GuildWars section has seen some changes recently. The biggest being the promotion of its newest GM, WNxChias. Additionally the GuildWars section has welcomed back their previous BO captain WNxRaynewen and we are all excited to see what she has in store. As with any new leadership we are to expect changes, however the officers of our GuildWars section are making sure that it will be a painless transition that everyone continues to enjoy their time here. With the expectation of GuildWars 2 sometime this year, everyone is preparing their accounts for all the GW2 goodies they will recieve. In the mean time, our officers here are pulling together to make sure our members experience is one to be remembered and I foresee our members enjoying this section for many years to come.

Knight Online
Knight Online is a game that has has stood the test of time and managed to keep its numbers strong and our section in WN reflects this. The section has seen a hit in forum activity recently but ingame activity seems to be steady. The officers are holding down the fort and hopefully we will see better results for gamenights and events for next month.

Lord of The Rings Online
Lord of The Rings Online is one of the biggest RPG sections currently in WN and it's activity level this month reflects this nicely. Under the direction of their current BO captain, WNxVivvy, the section has been privilaged with many great events and she is in the process of rolling out even more. This section is constantly in game with one another completing quests, leveling, and kicking some serious hobbit ass on behalf of WN.

PangYa is another one of those games that just seems to stand the test of time and never seems to lose interest. The section's BO captains, WNxPepper, and WNxSEEKER are currently working on getting the section on board with a weekly time frame in which game night can be held for the majority its members. Additionally they are working to dish out some great events and get everyone competing and gaming together on a more regular basis.

Rose Online

Rose is holding strong this month. The section's newly appointed BO captains WNxSparkz and WNxMaxxie have done a fantastic job of keeping weekly events rolling out both in game and on the forums this month. They are truely assets to their section and we look forward to seeing many great things from them.

RuneScape seems to be another game holding strong in the nation. Under the guidance of their BO captain DarkFury, the section has seen its fair share of events this month. The turn out for game nights has vastly improved this month with both new recruits and veteran members returning to lend their talents to the section. Also, be on the look out for an up coming Wilderness PKing events. Sounds like fun

World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft seems to be hanging in there as well. Raids are going as planned and everyone seems to be enjoying the expansion for WoW, Cataclysm. It seems with the new addition to the HG ranks, WNxPrisman will be dishing out the events in due course. We look foward to see what he can do for the section.

As the month for an RTS competition approaches, the RTS team has been putting together an event to bring the genre closer together and bring the true champions out for all to see. Many gamenights and events among the section have been planned and implemented. Though there is always room for improvement, the RTS team will soon be issuing some new training scenarios to make sure those BO honor guards and captains are on track. BO RTS is one of the Genre's still looking for Commissioners so if you have what it takes then what are you waiting for!?

League Of Legends NA

LoL NA's new leadership got to work this month and more and more game nights and tournaments are being created. Members can always be seen playing with each other and game reports are constantly being posted in the forums. Recently, WNx X Wick has emerged to be one of the best LoL players in WN with a 1704 ELO, which is in the top 700 in Solo ranked among hundreds of thousands of players. Its an amazing feat and congratz to Wick.

League of Legends EU

Even though LoL EU is a dwarf compared to the size of LoL NA, they are doing pretty well also. There are two game nights every week with good activity in game.
LoL EU hosted a 1vs1 solo mid contest and here are the results.

Awards will soon be added to the account!

If you want to review the tournament you can do that here:

Congratz to WNxMadness, WNxLazy and WNxHelena for winning the Solo mid contest.

The current BO has of Ikariam , WNxMistressChoas, has been in direct contact with the Queensland flooding and has made sure her priority was safety. Ikariam also received it's new GM WNxMartiqulous to get things moving. Mart has decided to bring back the pillage contest once again, which is definitely a section favorite and will be coming to an end this month!

EA has decided to shut down all BFME II related servers, and therefore the BFME II section is left in the dark. But due to the extroardinary persistance of the members and the staff, they have found a solution and are now playing on private servers through GameRanger. This however has caused a major blowback for the section's active members. However! There are some who stay active, and one excels in that, he shows great dedication and efford, and has been temporarily replacing the recently resigned Honour Guard of Battle Operations, WNxWalkingOwnage, and that is WNxSheerGenius. The section is doing okay now with occasional gamenights untill a new Honour Guard of Battle Operations is appointed, which applications are running now.

Starcraft II (EU)

The Starcraft II (EU) section is rolling on regarding Battle Operation related events. A new Captain of Battle Operations has been appointed, Captain WNxSentinelX. He's doing a good job so far, and we're expecting great work from him. His cooperation with the other Captain of Battle Operations, Captain Evertras is going well, and they're currently working on a tournament based event which is ought to be good. The first clan battle has been arranged with the DoubleDutchClan, and I wish the SC II (EU) section the best of luck with that, make us proud.

Starcraft 2 (NA)

SC2 NA has been preparing their members for battle, hosting Training nights to give good instruction on how to pump up their game! The section keeps throwing out gamenights to bring the members closer together with a spice of competition to get the most points. Soulfire the BO captain has been continuing his regime of the Ultimate Starcraft Champion events in which the last few matches are wrapping up.

Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2

A highlight to the month brought up through WNxDarkraven was the King of the Hill tournament, here are the results:

The DoW section has been getting very involved with ESL tournament and really getting the WN name out there. Darkraven also has some more tricks up his sleeve he may soon be releasing to the section, lots to look forward to!
