Controller vs. Keyboard/mouse: update

Posted 05-21-2012 at 01:09 PM by WNxKid Meatball
Now that I've had a couple weeks to play some competitive matches with my new control setup I can say I really like it. Despite my initial feelings about some button positions on the keyboard I am finding it actually easier to use and more comfortable.

Aiming with a mouse is slick, sometimes a bit too slick. I can whip the view around and lose track of the direction I'm going and get turned around. At the same time I'm finding the limitations of the Logitech M705. I get hairs stuck in the laser port and it "freezes" the mouse. Basically, it tracks the hair instead of the table so it blows my kill. Its wireless and battery operated so who knows when it will just conk out mid fight. The batteries last a hell of a lot longer than the last wireless mouse I had, and it wasn't broken out of the box like my old Razer Habu.

I don't get the hand cramps I used to get playing WoW, probably more from the lack of binge gaming than the actual keyboard or layout. The Razer Onza I have used to give me cramps and it would cause a concerning numbness in my middle fingers.

My bolter is getting better, my assault class is deadly, and well, I was never that great at heavy weapons and that hasn't changed.

See you in the grimdarkfuture.
