[B][I]Hey everyone. I'm Horizon, Hori, or just David and I've been a WN member for over 5 years now and I've seen a lot of changes, throughout a variety of positions, ranks and structures and have made a good deal of friends. I'd like to say I've got the experience to talk on topics with some authority.

I bring you this blog to talk about unique things, new ideas and maybe bring highlight to things you might not have thought about before.

So yes, I hope you find this interesting. Other than that, keep gaming / trolling / lurking / working.

History, Part I

[I]I'm creating a history. Why? Well my sig is well getting ridiculous due to the positions I held. Therefore, I wanted to create one in a blog. Not one of those generic ones that just lists positions; but also to give a little bit of a description about what happened and why.

So lets begin shall we?

So this was my first position in WN, only a couple of months into my time in the clan. Had just returned from HD and a holiday, and came back to WN, amazed by all its tags. Historian appealed to me as it seemed organised, and there were spots open. You all have to start your WN career somewhere, and this is where it was for me.

How short was this?! Well I actually applied for MP, but then the Major got demoted and everyone got shifted upwards and I was invited to be Field Ops Captain for World at War (PC). Was a surprise and to be honest I never really knew what I was doing. Got my first taste of sectional leadership though

(March 3, 2009 - March 15, 2009)

Oh that's why it was so short. The BO resigned, and having had some experience in my old clan arranging matches and what have you, I shifted across. However, although I didn't know it at the time, the section was a mess and activity was almost minimal and I couldn't get anything going. These were the days before Recon, and the section was struggling. Selfishly, I jumped ship to COD4. In retrospect I was probably a bit out of my depth, but that role was pretty damn hard given the circumstances.

I'd only been in the department 2 months, but I was really getting a hang of the role as Historian. After Squealer resigned from Scholar, I thought about applying, but felt I was maybe too new. I spoke to my then Scholar (Step), and he said maybe I should give it a go. After a brief interview, I got the role. I then spent a further 10 months in the department, getting the team in shape, stopping the endless turnover, meeting some great people and being awarded the Medal of Resolution. Have always found myself ending up back in the Creative Works

A very busy month hehe. After being in COD4 for a while, the section was slowly recovering from one of the worst rollcalls. I was reasonably active and FO apps came around. I thought I might give it a shot, and the leadership accepted me. This time I knew what to expect, got better training, and had a great team around me. Working with D1 and Pesva especially, we helped to bring the section up to 40 members for two consecutive months. Sectional activity was great and it was the most fun I've had in a role up until Dev Colonel.

Development had always been something that interested me almost from the time I joined the clan. I wanted to step further up the clan and Dev looked like a great chance for me to train leaders and help WN grow. After some delays I got promoted into the team. Dev was really suffering back then, having had an exodus of most of its leaders. There was a lot of rotation and general clan struggles during Autumn 2009, and dev was no exception. We barely released anything, and some people (including myself) became vocal on what needed to be changed. Nobody knew quite what direction to take. Eventually I became one of the more experienced and senior members and on Boxing Day was promoted to Colonel, 13 months into the clan.

Now I was an administrator in WN, with all the priveleges and responsibilities that it held. Dev got a new breath of air in the New Year, I started to create my team and ended up officially being in charge of the EU members. I'm proud of the team brought in, there were some excellent Developers; one served there long-term, one became a Colonel and both got the Savant. The clan numbers rose for the first time in a year, and we released more sections than we had in the whole of 2009 in the FIRST 5 months of 2010. I had no real further aims, other than to work well with Dev, get the Savant and maybe some day become the Dev BG. There were chances when that could have happened sooner that I expected, but it was not to be. Over the summer, I became increasingly frustrated, vocal and stopped performing my job so well. After the MG restructure, I found myself leaning towards the Creative Works once more.

(April 12, 2010 - July 27, 2010)

Same old really. I'd taken a break for 3 months, and there were some positions available and I was able to fit this alongside my Dev duties.

(July 27, 2010 - September 1, 2010)

The old Radio Head (Cootie) put some information up about Guest DJs. I'd be interested in getting involved with Radio and saw this as a good opportunity. After I my guest DJ slot, I became a full time DJ, and had fun playing my music and getting more involved in the Creative Works. This stopped being an official tag after I got promoted to Creative Colonel.

(September 1, 2010 - October 6, 2010)

So after I had disputes with Dev and where things were going, I switched across to the Creative Works. I started to work on generally improving the reputation and organisation of the department which had suffered recently. I also had my mind on general WN matters, and saw things perhaps slipping backwards. I made comments about this, and criticised people where it was not my place to and as such, I was demoted from Colonel. This was a real shock to me, and left half of my ideas and projects half way through and remaining in the balance, which was of course disappointing.

*1 - For anyone that cares I was actually demoted for a day while a restructure took place in Dev.
